Job Overview
GeoDirectory is expanding its data engineering team and seeking a committed, motivated individual eager to learn and grow. This role offers a structured development path, and opportunities to progress into advanced data engineering and machine learning domains.
The successful candidate will have a foundational understanding of database architecture and SQL, with a strong desire to deepen technical expertise and contribute to innovative data solutions.

Your first year at GeoDirectory is all about building strong foundations, gaining hands-on experience, and progressively taking on more responsibility as you grow into the role. Below are the key milestones for your first 12 months, designed to give you a clear picture of your learning journey and growth within the role.
First 3 Months
Training & Onboarding
- Understand GeoDirectory’s organisational structure and product offerings.
- Gain familiarity with Oracle SQL and Postgres environments.
- Learn internal ETL processes and data governance standards.
Deliverables
- Complete SQL query optimization tasks under supervision.
- Document existing data flows and propose minor improvements.
Skill Expansion
- Develop intermediate Python scripts for data transformation.
- Begin working on small-scale ML data preparation tasks.
- Collaborate with analysts and product managers on data-driven projects.
Deliverables
- Build reusable Python utilities for ETL.
- Contribute to departmental dashboards and reporting automation.
12 Months
Advanced Development
- Lead development of robust data pipelines integrating multiple sources.
- Apply ML techniques for predictive modelling in collaboration with Data Science team.
- Mentor new team members and contribute to architectural decisions.
Deliverables
- Deliver production-ready pipelines.
- Implement ML-driven enhancements to data quality and forecasting.

Requirements
- Relevant experience in data engineering or related role. 1 Year experience is preferrable.
- Strong SQL skills (Oracle and Postgres; PL/SQL, complex queries, optimizations).
- Ability to use Python for data engineering and ML tasks (Pandas, PySpark preferred).
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and pipeline design.
- Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms desirable.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, interpret, and analyze data from multiple sources.
- Evaluate business needs and translate them into data solutions.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL processes.
- Build reusable Python scripts for data preparation and ML modeling.
- Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive analytics.
- Combine raw information from diverse systems into structured datasets.
- Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability.
- Maintain and document datasets for internal and external use
Salary
