Join us on November 15th for the next in our series of webinars, this time on Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) and beyond. Speakers Prof. Serena Coetzee and Prof. Mike Goodchild will be addressing the currecnt state of SDI, where we have come from and where to go from here.
The idea of a national spatial data infrastructure dates from 1992, and was highly successful in stimulating the reorganization of production, search, and access. Thirty years later SDI has advanced in ways that could not have been anticipated: the development of high-definition spatial data, the multiple data sources that have emerged in important application areas, each with their own largely independent uncertainties; the push toward use cases that require answers to specific queries; and the need for what has been termed collection-level metadata.
