GeoDirectory provides a geocoded postal building database that has become the standard of addressing in Ireland. GeoDirectory was jointly established in 1999 by Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi) and An Post. GeoDirectory and the role is based in the GPO in O’Connell Lower in Dublin 1.
GeoDirectory has been expanding in recent years both in terms of its product and services and the market it operates in. The team in GeoDirectory is relatively young, highly skilled and the culture is focused on growth both for the person and the company.
GeoDirectory has a broad set of blue chip customers across a number of sectors including utility companies, emergency services, taxi companies, insurance companies, banks, government agencies etc to accurately locate any address in Ireland.
Job overview
To continue building out our data engineering team, we are now looking for a committed and motivated individual to join us. The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of database architecture, design, and approaches to integration (with focused knowledge of SQL).
Job responsibilities:
- Collecting, interpreting, and analysing data
- Evaluate business needs and objectives
- Creating a more efficient data collection and analysis process
- Develop and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures and ETL processes.
- Build reusable Python scripts for data preparation and ML modelling.
- Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modelling
- Combine raw information from different sources
- Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
- Developing and maintaining datasets
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in data engineering or related role.
- Strong SQL skills in Oracle and Postgres (PL/SQL, complex queries, optimisations).
- Proficiency in Python for data engineering and ML tasks (Pandas, PySpark preferred).
- Possess strong people skills and can partner with analysts, product managers and DBA’s across the organisation
- Have a team focus with a good self-management approach
- Some knowledge of data warehousing concepts
- Hands-on experience with SQL database design
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field
- Experience building data pipelines (Azure experience desirable)

Salary
