Some Highlights from the GeoView Residential Buildings Report Q2 2020
  • 16,617 residential address points were added to the GeoDirectory database in the twelve months to June 2020, a 32.9% drop on the equivalent 2019 figure of 24,773.
  • 13,661 residential buildings were under construction in Ireland in June 2020, representing a 3.2% fall on 2019 figure. In Dublin the decline in construction activity is more pronounced, down 10.2% year-on-year.
  • The residential vacancy rate stands at 4.5%, down 0.3 percentage points, with 25 out of 26 counties recording a decrease in vacancy rates.
  • The number of residential property transactions in the twelve months to May 2020 was 41,363, 7.6% lower than the corresponding figure in 2019.
  • The average house price increased by €3,643 (1.2%) to €296,758 in the twelve months to May 2020.
