GeoDirectory Annual Customer Conference 2024: A Day of Insights and Collaboration

The GeoDirectory Annual Customer Conference 2024 was a resounding success, bringing together industry experts, thought leaders, and our valued customers for a day of learning, networking, and inspiration. Held at The Alex Hotel in Dublin on Thursday, April 25th, the conference centred around the theme: “The Future of Data: Adapting to a Changing Landscape.” 

We were honoured to have keynote speakers with such diverse perspectives and rich Insights. 

Speakers highlights: 

Dr. Mani Dhingra: DCC’s Smart City Unit Digital Twin Program 

Her talk focused on DCC’s Smart City Unit Digital Twin Program. She delved into the concept of urban digital twins, their potential impact on city management, and how geospatial tools can enhance citizen engagement and collaboration among stakeholders. Attendees gained insights into making informed decisions using digital twin technology. 

Rafiqul Haque: Navigating Dataspaces: Blueprint, Processes, Applications, and Challenges 

Rafiqul Haque, a seasoned researcher and data analytics expert, shared his insights into dataspaces. His talk covered four crucial aspects: 

  • Blueprint: Attendees learned about the blueprint developed by the Data Space Support Centre. 

  • Processes: Rafiqul discussed the steps involved in building dataspaces. 

  • Applications: Practical applications of dataspaces across various industries were explored. 

  • Challenges: Challenges and opportunities in managing dataspaces were addressed. 
     

Cathal Hoare (UCD): Advancing Energy Efficiency with Semantic Web and BIM-Based Solutions 

Cathal Hoare’s expertise lies in energy systems research and semantic integration. His talk focused on the Building Energy Informatics Laboratory and developing solutions for multi-scale energy modelling. From individual buildings to national building stocks, semantic web and BIM-based approaches play a crucial role in addressing energy efficiency challenges. 

Inspector Martin Walsh (An Garda Síochána): Location Intelligence in Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) 

Inspector Martin Walsh emphasized the importance of location information within An Garda Síochána’s CAD system. How GeoDirectory’s collaboration with law enforcement resulted in an Address Gazetteer containing Eircodes and non-Eircode locations nationwide. This continually evolving gazetteer enhances emergency response and public safety.

Dominic Fahey, GeoDirectory’s Chief Technical Officer, shed light on the practical applications of GeoDirectory’s products. Attendees also learnt about how GeoDirectory reports and webinars empower businesses, government agencies, and individuals with accurate geospatial data. 

Dr Fionnuala Donohue (HSE): Unlocking Health Intelligence with Location Information 

Dr Fionnuala Donohue highlighted the value of location data in healthcare decision-making. Attendees explored how geospatial insights can improve resource allocation, public health initiatives, and patient outcomes.
