We did mention that this was a separation from ‘normal life’ and with a great view overlooking ancient Croagh Patrick, Inisturkbeg is guaranteed to be the perfect getaway.

2. The Schoolhouse, Annaghmore, Co Sligo

Now everybody remembers schools in different ways but one thing we can all agree on life was simplier, clearer and full of awe and expectation. So how could you resist a step back into a classical schoolhouse to touch that past?  The Schoolhouse in Annaghmore offers this experience with no sign of the modern white boards no,  just a simple chalk board.  Built in the 1860s and situated beside the Owenmore River, it was once the school room and two bedroom house of the school master.

Enjoy local amenities such as; The Knocknarea Mountain is 12 km away, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception a 15-minute drive away, Strandhill beach a 20 minute drive away or tee off at the beautiful Strandhill Golf Club. The holiday home lies 15 km from Sligo Airport. Or simply slowly soak in the scenes and atmosphere that is, after all, Yeats country.

3. Gyreum, Castlebaldwin, Co Sligo

If you want to revive your soul and get back to nature, it doesn't get much more earthy than a trip to Gyreum, a wind and solar-powered eco retreat in a colossal yurt-like timber temple with living wildflower roof, sunk into the hills of Sligo. Many come for their Pilgrim's Progress six-county walking tour that culminates in a full moon-lit hot tub, but it's an inspirational space to take part in a diverse range of creative and eco-centred events. Built on a ley line, stay in one of Gyreum's inner tents, break bread at the great communal table and absorb some of Mother Earth's free energy.
