Summertime and the living is easy, a time when nothing tastes better than delicious seafood served up in one of Ireland’s many beautiful sunny surrounds.  Forget the need to flex your oven muscles with seafood en papillote, definitely does not sound so posh in English!! (In a pouch)  Leave your kitchens behind and take time to enjoy our prized mouth-watering Dublin Bay Prawns, succulent lobsters, and tongue tantalizing sea bass.

If you’re after some gill-t free plaice-ure (must be read with a French accent in mind), I dolphinitely suggest you read on!!! (couldn’t resist)……  we are now going to take you on a seafood journey through some of our beautiful counties……

THE SEAFOOD CAFÉ (FOWNE ST. DUBLIN)(Seafood Café)

Niall Sabongi has brought a cool sea breezy feel to his city centre Seafood Café, offering such delights as lobster rolls and enticing our taste buds with Oysters, Dublin Bay Prawns and the day’s catch in “pristinely crunchy batter”……yummy,  this city Centre delight offers great Irish Seafood at affordable prices.

THE SILVERFOX SEAFOOD RESTAURANT (KILMORE The Silver FoxQUAY, WEXFORD)

Enjoy the picturesque village of Kilmore Quay framed with traditional thatched cottages, combined now with the bustling fishing port.  The Silverfox, originally a sandstone beach cottage today sets the ambience for this award winning Seafood Restaurant with their tasteful menus which specialises on locally caught seafood  boasting sizzling prawns, traditional Kilmore Quay scallops, pan sealed monkfish and oysters.

OCEAN WILD (CASTLETOWNBERE, CORK)Ocean Wild

Ocean Wild with its exposed stoned walls, draped with Irish Artwork, is a culinary gem of west Cork.  Run by local sisters Mairead and Eileen O’Driscoll, we don’t think they are related to the Rugby player Brian but who knows, their food tastes every bit as good as he played.  This restaurant is situated in the beautiful Beara Peninsula, along the Wild Atlantic way and offers a taste of their magnificent seafood caught locally in Castletownbere fishing port. Their menu brings magic to your table through monkfish curry, Castletownbere Hake…….is your mouth watering????

GLOBAL VILLAGE (DINGLE, KERRY)Global Village

The exquisite Global Village boasts a warm relaxed welcome, with Chef Martin Bealin and his partner Nuala Cassidy offerings which include, it has to be said, scrumptious Ventry Lobster and sweet Dingle Bay Prawns.  Boasting modern methods, touched with tradition bringing the purest of local ingredients to life in a harmony of taste and tone, where the kitchen is the centre of their creation.

O'DOWDS SEAFOOD BAR & RESTAURANT (GALWAY)GEOFINDIT

This award winning restaurant overlooks the harbour with panoramic views over Roundstone Bay & the Twelve Bens.  Offering a friendly informal atmosphere, with fabulous dishes including hot buttered Roundstone lobster and fillet of fresh Connemara salmon.

………Are you hungry yet??????  Because I am and off now to start my new seafood journey, on my list is the Sole Seafood & Grill, South William Street, Dublin 2 which has just won the best seafood restaurant in Europe at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards.  The menu includes Sole Meuniére, Howth Smoked salmon and Irish lobsters….. Bon Appetite!!
