Delivering public services with GeoDirectory
To plan and deliver the public services we rely on, national and local and government needs to keep track of Ireland’s ever-changing demography.
Whether it’s working out the best locations for new schools, coordinating local refuse collections, or planning new roads and public transport routes, our government bodies need to know exactly how the population is distributed.
GeoDirectory is used extensively by Government agencies to help:

Government Bodies using our Address Database
Among the Government bodies in the Republic of Ireland using GeoDirectory are:
- All 29 county councils and five city councils. These are responsible for coordinating a range of essential activities, including local roads, libraries, sanitation and the fire services.
- Office of Public Works. The OPW has a range of roles which require in-depth knowledge of Ireland’s buildings and where they are located. Its responsibilities include property management, the maintenance of the public infrastructure and building planning.
- Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA is involved in environmental monitoring, waste management and pollution control. It uses GeoDirectory-based GIS technologies to assess the environment and track changes that occur over time.
